Frequently asked questions

Have questions? we are here to help.

How often are sessions?

Sessions are from 50 minutes, and are normally scheduled on the same day at the same time each week. I would recommend a minimum of 6 sessions but there is no obligation to book a set number in advance.

How do I cancel my session?

Please give me 24hr notice if you need to cancel I do advise clients that continuous breaks in counselling can sometimes break the momentum of the work so it is advice not to miss any sessions.

All missed sessions and sessions cancelled within 24hrs of the scheduled time must be paid for in full.

On very rare occasions I may need to cancel a session at short notice, in which case there is no charge.

How do I pay for my session?

Payment must be made 24 hours in advance. I offer cash, online card payment or bank transfer. If payments are not made in advance then the session will not go ahead.

If however you prefer to pay by cash on the day then please send me a text to advise that this is what you would like to do. I do understand that some clients need confidentiality with payments this can be agree at the time by contract agreements and no text is required.

Is counselling confidential?

Confidentiality is a critical aspect of the counselling relationship and is essential for building trust between the counsellor and the client. When you speak to a counsellor, they are legally and ethically bound to keep your information private and confidential.

However, there are some exceptions to this rule. In certain situations, a counsellor may be required by law to break confidentiality, such as when they believe a client is a danger to themselves or others, or when they are legally compelled to disclose information by a court order. Additionally, some counsellors may have to share information with other professionals involved in a client's care, such as a doctor or psychiatrist. There will be a discussion in advance with you before I share any information with anyone outside our working alliance.

When I am in crisis can I contact my counsellor?

I am available to you at your scheduled appointment time only. In the case of an emergency you will need to seek other resources.
